Light the candle and pray: Jesus light of the world, shine into our darkness and be our love!
Pray: Psalm 96:1-6
Read: Luke 1:30-35
Reflection: Scott Mitchell
To celebrate advent is an act of bravery. There is nothing cowardly about those who wait for God’s Kingdom to reveal itself in fullness. It takes a fair amount of bravery to believe in the hope, peace, joy and love of Jesus. There is so much in this world that seems to point to evil and powerful people winning in this world. It seems like darkness is closing in faster than the light will allow.
I want to be bold like John the Baptizer, declaring the goodness of God in this world despite seeing all the bad. I want to be brave enough to let Jesus light up my world of darkness. Believing that the goodness and grace of Jesus will defeat all darkness is a prophetic statement of faith. It takes bravery to live into the newness that only Jesus can provide.
Jesus is alive and at work in the spirit of bravery, we can keep calling out to Him!
